I agree totally.  I have just bought a 32Gb card from a UK seller.  It turned out to be a card from Hong Kong and although you can copy music to it, half the tracks wont play.

The seller is now trying to tell me that I have bought a card not compatible with the HTC Desire S.  After lots of arguements I have managed to salvage £3 less than I paid for it and I have the cost of sending it back.  The seller is talking like he's done me a favour.

Lesson learnt and I will definitely be considering the 16Gb one from Play (dot) com.  Definite peice of mind.

Too many sharks on Ebay and even the UK Sellers are palming off dodgy Chinese fakes....   Angry

Buying from eBay is FINE but you MUST checkout the sellers feedback/reputation first.

Try NOT to buy from outside UK or your own particular country but wherever you buy from make sure you use Paypal to pay for the item as they will recover your monies if the card  turns out to be faulty.

Make sure you thoroughly test the card BEFORE you leave any eBay feedback.

I have had many, many items from eBay - including memory cards - and only had the odd problem that was then swiftly sorted by Paypal.

It is not eBay that is "dodgy" but some of the sellers on there and your own common sense must also be used !!

Exactly. Buying from ebay is fine, but buy named brands and don't fall for the old "yeah, but it's just the same as a <insert named brand>" line.

The quality will be better if the manufacturer has a reputation to maintain.

I have continued my quest for a quality 32Gb card that is sure to work with my HTC Desire S.  San Disk seems to be the one popping up but they are varied in price.  Would Carphone Warehouse be a safe bet?  I take it that a Class 2 card is okay even for that size?  Nobody seems to have anything any faster and even HTC themselves pointed me towards their sales site for a San Disk one at £89.99.

Comments and experiences welcome as this is a lot of money but I could really do with the extra capacity.

cheers,

Martin.

I looked at that, but you can almost buy 3 16Gb cards for that price, so I decided to buy a 16Gb SanDisk from Play.com and wait for the 32Gb price to come down.

I know what you mean.  It does put you in some what of a quandry just thinking about it.  I've spent all day looking at memory cards  Smiley  Maybe I should stop being greedy and make do with the 16Gb one for now.  Play.com certainly are a much safer bet.

I finally decided to go for an 8GB class 6 card, bought from Amazon.co.uk, from themselves and not a 3rd party.

Firstly I wanted a quick card and secondly there seem to have been quite a few posts about 16GB cards possibly causing over heating, so wanted to be on the safe side.

Will see what happens to my storage and if I am getting near the limit then I will look at 16GB or maybe 32GB, hopefully they will be getting quicker, more reliable and much cheaper  Grin Having said that I remember paying over £100 for a 128MB USB memory stick a number of years ago.

Maybe I will hold off for now.  Listen to the same 10 albums until bored, then take them off and add different ones.  At least until there is a decent 32Gb card for a decent price.  It's been a rocky road so far and I just don't want to buy yet another white elephant.

I've been using a 16Gb SanDisk for weeks now without any problems at all. Even with all the music I'm likely to need loaded onto it, there's still 6Gb free.

I should have taken this route initially.  Smiley

That really makes my blood boil, rude ebay sellers. I made the HUGE mistake of buying fake Koss PortaPros last week (who'd have thought such cheap headphones would be counterfeited?)..the seller told me he wants me to send my genuine pair, and the fakes he sold me, so he can compare them. "I'm not interested in reading the website you sent me", he said (how to compare fakes).

Years ago I bought a hooky Sony Memory Pro Duo card for silly money from Amazon Marketplace, completely naively, not realising counterfeit memory cards existed. I kicked up a stink with Amazon. The seller eventually posted a cheque for 1/5 of the price, with no covering letter or explanation.

I'll never buy another piece of electronics from ebay/marketplace again, unless it's a very reputable seller. Don't take the risk.

Also, there's 32GB memory cards on play: http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/17220682/Play-com-32GB-Micro-SDHC-Memory-Card-Class-4/Product.html?P36=SU75DG (class 4, £52.99 delivered)

Mymemory: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/MyMemory/MyMemory-32GB-Micro-SD-%28SDHC%29-Card---Class-4 (again, class 4, £52.99 delivered, though out of stock)

And 7dayshop: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=110088 (£51.99 delivered, class 2).

Quite fancy a 32GB myself, as fast as possible obviously..though I wish they'd dip below the £50 mark. Sometimes play.com has them for £49.99.
